Wuaki.tv, the VoD streaming service, has announced the start of operations in Italy as part of its European expansion plan.
The Alpine country is the fifth in which Wuaki.tv will be available, after Spain, UK, France and Germany. The company is undergoing a growth plan that aims to be in 15 European countries in late 2015.
Wuaki.tv closed 2014 with over 2 million users in Europe, 400,000 of those are in the the UK, and a growth increase of 85 per cent over the previous year. This growth has had a direct influence on its turnover revenue – increasing 94 per cent globally. The VoD company was acquired by the Japanese e-commerce giant Rakuten in 2012 and has become one of the major European players within the sector.
“We are living a great moment for the company that continues to grow exponentially. With this new country, the expansion plan consolidates the good acceptance we have in Europe and will allow us to continue our plans to offer our service in more than 15 countries by the end of this year. Wuaki.tv wants to continue working to bring the best content and the best service to all users in Europe,” explains Jacinto Roca, CEO of Wuaki.tv.
The service will launch in Ireland and Austria in the coming months.
