Arqiva taps SeaChange for Freeview Play
March 4, 2015
Arqiva is using SeaChange software and professional services to create the metadata foundation for Freeview Play, the new subscription-free connected TV offer from the UK’s most-watched television service. Freeview is managed by DTV Services, a company owned and run by its five shareholders: BBC, Sky, Channel 4, ITV and Arqiva.
The SeaChange Adrenalin multiscreen video platform provides Arqiva with the flexibility to aggregate, manage and deliver metadata from multiple sources for the Freeview electronic programme guide for connected TVs and set-top boxes. It will enable Freeview viewers to navigate seamlessly between live TV and on-demand content, including programmes offered through BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, 4oD and Demand 5.
“The metadata system Arqiva is developing, utilising SeaChange Adrenalin, will form the backbone of the new Freeview platform and sustain its value for years to come,” said Tom Cape, Director of Connected Solutions at Arqiva. “SeaChange Adrenalin is ideal for the metadata system we are developing for the new Freeview Play service, designed to bring the benefits of connected TV to everyone.”
