A BBC Monitoring report, commenting on two high-level meetings with Chinese investors by a Nigerian ministerial delegation, says that China is in “advanced talks” to invest “about $15 billion” into Nigeria’s information and communications technology infrastructure.

A communiqué issued after an event in Ibadan, Nigeria, said the end result could create 40 million new jobs for Nigerian youngsters.

“I just led an industry delegation to China and after discussions with the investment community and unveiling investment potential in the Nigerian ICT industry, the Chinese investors have decided to come to Nigeria to invest about $15 billion into our ICT sector,” said Nigeria’s Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu.
