National Geographic content for China’s Tencent

Fox International Channels (FIC) and Tencent have agreed on a strategic cooperation for National Geographic Channel (NGC) documentaries to be made available online in China on the Internet giant’s video platform, Tencent Video, as part of a NGC branded block.

Over 300 hours of programming and documentaries from National Geographic Channel will be available on Tencent Video in 2015. Under the agreement, Tencent Video and National Geographic Channel will also co-produce China-focused programs.

Commenting on the cooperation, Tony Qi, Territory Head for China at Fox International Channels, said, “We are pleased to working with Tencent Video, a platform supported by one of the largest internet companies in China and globally.  National Geographic Channel content is high quality, best in class programming that is designed to inspire viewers.  We are excited that with Tencent’s extensive and innovative network, we will be able to bring NGC content to even a wider audience in China.”
