Portuguese premium pay-TV network Sport TV will launch a free-to-air channel in August, to be distributed by the main pay-TV platforms in the country.

Based in Porto, Sport TV+ will be dedicated to sports news from Portugal and abroad and will be available in the SD and HD versions for pay-TV subscribers, at no additional cost.

In August, the channel will provide ample coverage of 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Sport TV+ will also dedicate significant space to the Portuguese Football League (“Liga NOS”) and major European football leagues, as well as other sports such as basketball, handball, volleyball, tennis, boxing, athletics, rugby and golf.

Sport TV currently airs five pay-TV sports channels in Portugal (Sport TV 1-5).
