April 30, 2018
Britbox, the US SVoD service, is to offer an array of programming for the forthcoming Royal Wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, including live coverage of the event in cinemas.
The service, co-owned by BBC Studios, ITV and AMC Networks, will allow US subscribers to watch a live broadcast of the wedding. In addition to the live rolling coverage, there will a special hour-long Royal Wedding highlights show that will be available soon after the wedding has ended. BritBox will also make the coverage available in a number of cinemas across the US.
“BritBox will be the ultimate destination — for streaming and now for the first time in theatres — to enjoy the upcoming nuptials in true British style,” said Soumya Sriraman, president of BritBox. “BritBox is the only US destination providing access to ITV’s live broadcast of the event and Julie and Phillip’s expert take on the proceedings. In addition, we’ve curated a special lineup that not only gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the wedding … but also gives fans a well-rounded view of the soon-to-be married couple and the royal family.”
