Spanish TV group Atresmedia has claimed to be the European private TV operator with the largest penetration in the international TV market.

The company said that it now reaches some 55 million international homes, three times more than in Spain, with a notable penetration in Latin America and the US.

In 2017, Atresmedia set up Atresmedia Internacional to strengthen its position in the market, distributing four TV channels; Antena 3 Internacional, Atreseries, Hola TV and Atrescine. The company has signed distribution agreements with Sky, DirecTV, Claro TV, Movistar Plus, Dish and Cablevision to boost its expansion into different territories.

Mar Martínez Raposo, General Director of Atresmedia Internacional, told business daily El Economista that “our goal is growing in the Hispanic market, including the States, a profitable country in spite of the low Hispanic population with pay TV, and of course in all Latin America, from Mexico to Argentine”. To this end, the company recently reached an agreement with Brazilian broadcaster Globo.

Atresmedia is also focusing on its expansion into Europe following a recent agreement with AMC Networks with channels such as Canal Cocina, Canal Decasa, Sol Música, Somos, Atrescine, Astreseries and Antena 3 Internacional. The company will market a joint package with AMC Networks throughout all pay-TV platforms in Europe.
