The astronomic growth of the video game and esports industries has brought with it a variety of opportunities for cheaters to prosper. This growing problem diminishes the appeal of any game, resulting in legitimate players turning to other video games. Irdeto’s 2018 Global Gaming Survey uncovered that 77 per cent of players are likely to quit a game for good if they feel opponents aren’t playing fair. This translates into significant revenue loss for game publishers. To address this challenge, Denuvo by Irdeto has launched its Anti-Cheat solution to protect against cheating in video games and esports.

Denuvo Anti-Cheat prevents cheaters from manipulating and extracting data or code to gain an advantage over other gamers. The solution makes use of the latest hardware security features offered by Intel and AMD, combined with Machine Learning of game-agnostic process metrics, to ensure no false positives and maximum detection of cheating. Developed by security experts and video game enthusiasts, Denuvo’s technology has no impact on the gameplay experience and its non-intrusive reporting methodology ensures the developer’s workflow is never impacted.

“Cheating ruins video games for honest players,” said Reinhard Blaukovitsch, Managing Director of Denuvo, Irdeto. “This can lead to lower game traffic and shrinking revenues for game publishers. Cheating also has a major impact on the esports market, where significant prizes are on the line. It’s time to level the playing field. The launch of our Anti-Cheat solution, as well as our involvement in the Esports Integrity Coalition, underpins our commitment to eliminating cheating in both video games and esports.”

Unlike other products, Denuvo Anti-Cheat operates on the binary, not the source code and integrates directly into the product build process. It also does not interfere with debuggers, instrumentation tools, or profilers and it does not require APIs or SDKs. This means fewer tools for the build engineers to manage and for developers to install.
