OKAST and Qwest TV strengthen agreement

September 1, 2020

The white-label video streaming platform solution, OKAST, has strengthened its historic agreement with Qwest TV, the media co-founded by the legendary Quincy Jones and Reza Ackbaraly.

OKAST is the first turnkey tool that allows you to simply deploy your own video streaming platform and monetize your catalog.

Launched in the fall of 2017, Qwest TV offers the largest catalogue of video-on-demand programming dedicated to jazz, soul, funk, World and Beyond. Building on the platform’s international success, the two companies have renewed and strengthened their collaboration on several fronts:

> New TV applications will be launched in the near future, including Roku and Apple TV to complete the list of existing TV applications: Amazon Fire TV, Android TV.
> Support for the B-to-B distribution of Qwest TV EDU to universities. The company announced last June that it was offering an educational version to institutions around the world. This initiative comes in response to and in support of the worldwide protests against brutality and anti-Black racism. Qwest TV hopes to be an entry point for those wanting to connect with and learn more about the wide-ranging music made by Black Americans, along with other striking musical artists from around the world.
> APIs development to deploy the platform to cable operators and TV channel distributors, in order to make the service available to as many people as possible.

“We are excited to continue our technical partnership with OKAST which dates back to our Jazz and Beyond SVOD launch in 2017. This is an important year for Qwest TV as we look to expand our music-centric service with Classical (opera, classical concerts, dance) and Mix (electronic, hip-hop, folk-pop) and we look forward to doing this with OKAST as a partner,” said Reza Ackbaraly, Qwest TV co-founder.

“We’re very proud to have been part of Qwest TV’s mission to bring timeless, universal music to the world since the beginning. After a successful launch and the establishment of the brand at a global level, we are very grateful to Qwest TV for extending its confidence in our services to increase its distribution on all types of screens,” added Cédric Monnier, Founder M.E.I. Group (FlameFy & OKAST)
