ROI: Premier Sports scores rights to Autumn Nations Cup
November 4, 2020
Premier Sports has announced 12 live and exclusive Autumn Nations Cup fixtures will be broadcast this November and December in the Republic of Ireland. The inaugural tournament is in place of the usual Autumn internationals series so teams can avoid extended travel due to Covid-19 with eight teams participating – Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales, France, Italy, Georgia and Fiji.
The opening round of live fixtures begin with a double header on November 14th as Italy play host to Scotland from 12.45pm before World Cup runners up England welcome Georgia to Twickenham from 3pm.
Irish broadcaster and reporter Ryle Nugent will head up the presentation of Premier Sports coverage for the games.
Kearney commented: “I am excited to join the Premier Sports team for the upcoming Autumn test games and joining Ryle in the studio. Obviously I am supporting Ireland, that goes without saying, but I look forward to seeing how some of the emerging nations perform in this year’s tournament.”
Mickey O’Rourke, Managing Director of Premier Sports, added: “We are delighted to announce our live and exclusive fixtures for the inaugural Autumn Nations Cup this month. This is another statement by Premier Sports to show our commitment to offer Irish sports fans the very best of quality live sport. We’re sure rugby fans will enjoy the coverage we will broadcast over the coming weeks.”
JD Buckley, CEO Sky Ireland, said: “This is great news for Rugby fans and we’re delighted that twelve exclusive Premier Sports fixtures will be available through the Sports Extra pack on Sky. It promises to be a fantastic competition as we watch old rivals take on new.”
