EarthxTV announces new leadership team

Dan Russell has been elevated to CEO of EarthX Media, which operates EarthxTV, from his prior role as Executive Vice President of Content and Strategy. Rajan Singh, the former CEO of Digi Media Global, has joined the company as Head of Global Distribution, charged with expanding the availability of EarthxTV across digital and linear platforms worldwide. The announcement was made today by Trammell S. Crow, founder and Chairman of the Board of Earth Day Texas Inc., which operates domestically and internationally as EarthX.

“Dan’s experience building multi-platform audiences and his success identifying new hit formats and personalities is key to enabling EarthxTV to achieve its goals. Dan’s leadership and Rajan’s understanding of global markets are crucial for achieving our vision to build EarthxTV into a global entertainment and informative network,” said Nathan Loftice, President, CEO and Executive Director of EarthX.

“Through compelling characters, storytelling, and series formats, EarthxTV will galvanize audiences to address serious issues facing our planet,” said Russell. “I’m proud to lead this organization and the talented people supporting EarthxTV.”

Russell has been a key part of multiple management teams responsible for launching and reformatting television channels in the U.S. and internationally, including TLC, Animal Planet, Travel Channel, Discovery Health Channel, Velocity, Discovery International, and Poker Central. Previously,  he was VP of Global Channel Management at CuriosityStream, launching the linear channel and digital/VOD offerings globally. He also served as Senior Vice President  of Content Development at New Dominion Pictures.

Singh joined EarthxTV from Digi Media Global, where, as founder and CEO, he worked  with networks to expand distribution and increase revenue into new territories. Singh works out of the EarthX headquarters in Dallas, TX, and its London office alongside the leadership team to build EarthxTV into a globally recognized entertainment network catering to audiences increasingly attuned to issues affecting our planet.

“I’ve been opening markets and expanding the reach for networks and creatives to tell their stories with the world throughout my career. I know firsthand we have many shared stories of sustainability,” said Singh.

Before forming Digi Media Global, Singh was Executive Vice President of International Business at Star Network (News Corp.) focused on setting up a consolidated international business of the company’s network channels for distribution outside India. He also developed groundbreaking international events at major venues in London, New York, Paris, and Johannesburg.  Earlier in his career, Singh was EVP of International Business at Sony Entertainment Television, heading the company’s global business for India-based channels SET, MAX and SAB. He was responsible for business development, marketing, sales, and client relations outside India. Singh also served as CEO of ZEE TV in the U.K. and Africa and Managing Director of Sunrise Radio East Midlands.
