Imogen Heap, Dan O’Neill collaborate with Audible

October 6, 2022

Audible, a world-wide leader of spoken-word entertainment, has announced an innovative soundscape series, Reflections on Change, created by award-winning composer and musician Imogen Heap and zoologist, presenter, and filmmaker Dan O’Neill.

A pioneering collaboration between two masters in their field, Reflections on Change takes wildlife and environmental sounds hand-picked by Dan O’Neill and turns them into a musical landscape through the skilled hands of Imogen Heap. The result is a rich listening experience that embeds some of nature’s most breath-taking sounds, from the humpback whale to the tiny Piha, a humble brown bird that’s near impossible to spot yet fills the Guyanese jungle with its otherworldy call.

As well as its compelling composition, Reflections on Change carries an impactful message and hopes to provide an immersive space for listeners to do just that – reflect – as its creators compel its audience to appreciate the variety and magnificence of the environmental sounds at risk from climate change.

Originally composed as the soundtrack to Audible Original series, Climate of Change with Cate Blanchett and Danny Kennedy, its sounds were carefully chosen due to their close link to environments discussed in each episode. This newly released soundscape will therefore give listeners the opportunity to hear an extended version of its enchanting and reflective music, uninterrupted.

Imogen Heap co- creator of Reflections on Change, said: “”I’d never attempted any project in the way I did with this one, especially when it comes to the Reflections on Change pieces.  Usually, it’s my style to pack every second of the music with something new to listen to but with these Reflections, there is space to drift off into contemplation, so I found it quite challenging.  I’m very happy with the final result and I hope the listeners enjoy it too”

Dan O’Neill co-creator of Reflections on Change, said: “Reflections on Change has been such a novel and exciting project to work on. I’m always looking for new ways to tell natural world and conservation stories, and so being a part of Imogen’s process has been a great honour. Her ability to imbue the essence of our chosen biomes into each piece is genius, and my greatest hope is that people feel transported through the music to these wild lands in a way that makes them feel more connected to our planet.”

Those wishing to explore the topic further will also be pleased to hear that Climate of Change with Cate Blanchett and Danny Kennedy is returning for Series 2 today, with long-term friends – award-winning actor, producer and environmental advocate, Cate Blanchett and climate entrepreneur and activist, Danny Kennedy – exploring eco-anxiety and optimism in the face of the climate crisis.

Audible Originals, Reflections on Change and Climate of Change with Cate Blanchett and Danny Kennedy Series 2 are available from October 6th, exclusively on Audible.
