WDR selects Insys and ORS Group for encoder delivery

Insys Video Technologies and Austrian Broadcasting Services, ORS Group, have won a four-year framework agreement tender to deliver encoder and support services for several German public-broadcasting institutions.
The tender announced by West German Broadcasting Cologne (WDR) included the supply of AWS Elemental Live Encoders, software licenses and support services for 7 German broadcasters: Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR), Hessischer Rundfunk (HR), ARD Sternpunkt (ARD-STP), Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR), Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR), Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB), Südwestrundfunk (SWR) and Westdeutscher Rundfunk Köln (WDR).
AWS Elemental Live is a video encoding solution that creates real-time live video content for broadcasting and streaming delivery. It offers an impressive range of features, including real-time encoding in multiple formats even in high-resolution 4K and HDR, real-time video editing features such as graphic overlays and subtitles, as well as seamless integration with AWS Cloud Services. The advanced technology and powerful features enable WDR and the other broadcasters to encode, optimise, and seamlessly deliver live content in real-time and in multiple OTT formats. This offers the possibility to reach their target audiences on various platforms. The AWS Elemental Live encoders allow the broadcasters to continue delivering premium video quality at different bandwidths, resulting in smooth streaming in pristine quality.
