WTA announces Tier 4 Certification of Speedcast’s Mawson LakesTeleport
January 18, 2024
The World Teleport Association (WTA) has announced that Speedcast has achieved Tier 4 certification of its Mawson Lakes Teleport in Australia under WTA’s Teleport Certification Programme.
The Mawson Lakes certification marks the 56th issued since the programme was launched at IBC 2015, and another 8 teleports are currently engaged in the quality evaluation process. The programme provides transparent, independently verified standards as a means for teleports to differentiate themselves and for customers to choose the price-performance level suitable for their applications. Certification is issued on a Provisional (self-reported) basis after completion of a +170-item questionnaire that is evaluated against standards developed by WTA’s Certification Committee. The teleport then has six months to achieve Full Certification. To achieve Full Certification under WTA’s programme, an auditor is dispatched to visit the teleport, provide independent validation of the data submitted in the questionnaire, and identify additional factors that may positively or negatively affect the score. Full Certification is issued at a Tier number from one through four, of which four represents the highest degree of excellence, and remains in effect for three years. Certifications have been issued to teleports operated by IABG Teleport, A1 Telekom Austria Group, Hispasat, Gomedia Satcom, Azercosmos, Speedcast, Servicio Satelital, USEI, AXESS Networks, STN, Eutelsat, du, COMSAT, Nilesat, e&, Optus, Horizon Teleports, RADIOCOM, Talia, Telespazio, Vivacom, Cyta, PlanetCast, Globecast, KT sat, Singtel, Hellas Sat, Orange, Hawaii Pacific Teleport, Intelsat, Globecast, SMS, Telstra, Primacom, Stellar-PCS, Santander Teleport and Arqiva. “Following Speedcast’s recent WTA certification for our Macaé, Brazil teleport, this latest certification is part of an ongoing effort to ensure that Speedcast delivers best-in-class services for customers, with global infrastructure in place to support client operations,” said Will Mudge, VP Engineering Operations at Speedcast. “Achieving the highest level of certification offered by WTA, the Speedcast Mawson Lakes teleport is evidence of our commitment to customers in providing only the best infrastructure in ensuring successful operations.
