Turkey climbs Netflix Speed Index; India, Greece fall

August brought declines across India on the Netflix ISP Speed Index – a monthly update on which Internet Service Providers (ISPs) provide the best prime time Netflix streaming experience.
Three different Internet providers in the country experienced declines in the month of August. D-VoiS fell 0.33 Megabits per second (Mbps) to a 2.57 Mbps average, down from 2.9 Mbps in July. Jio Giga Fiber also dropped 0.33 Mbps, dipping from a 3.5 Mbps average in July to 3.17 Mbps. Syscon Infoway fell 0.30 Mbps to a 2.53 Mbps average (down from 2.83 Mbps the previous month).
These three declines likely contributed to India dropping five spots – the biggest movement of the month – to 54 on the country rankings.
Elsewhere, Kuwait’s Qualitynet was the only other service that experienced a notable decline. It fell 0.41 Mbps, from a 3.4 Mbps average in July to 2.99 Mbps in August.
On the other end of the spectrum, Turkey’s Tüksat Kablo made the top gain for August, rising 0.72 Mbps to a 3.5 Mbps average (up from 2.78 Mbps in July). No doubt thanks in part to this, Turkey also climbed four spots on the country rankings after falling the same amount in July. August saw Turkey move up from 46 to 42.
In Saudi Arabia, Mobily rebounded this month after posting decreases in July. Mobily increased by 0.35 Mbps, moving up to an average of 2.92 Mbps from 2.57 Mbps in July. Hungary’s invitel increased by 0.33 Mbps to a 3.19 Mbps average (up from 2.86 Mbps in July). In Brazil, Vivo Fibra rose 0.56 Mbps from a 3.22 Mbps average in July to 3.78 Mbps.
In addition to India and Turkey, Greece also made movement on the country rankings. The country fell four spots from 36 to 40.
