Advertising revenues still struggle

August 28, 2012

Media agency Carat has further revised downwards its forecasts. Globally it expects advertising revenues (across all media) to grow, but by less than originally expected.

Some of the individual markets are still seeing spectacular y-o-y falls in revenues,  with Spain leading the pack with likely y-o-y falls this year now of -8 per cent (originally expected to be -4.6 per cent), while Italy is expected to tumble -5 per cent (originally expected to grow 1.2 per cent).  The UK is also marked to suffer from positive growth of 4 per cent, now adjusted to 2.8 per cent.

Highlight region is Central & Eastern Europe, which is still expected to grow 7.9 per cent (although originally forecast to grow 9.5 per cent). Russia’s ad-revenues are still enjoying impressive buoyancy of some 14.1 per cent, says Carat, although this is also down slightly on an expected 15.2 per cent growth forecast.
