JTV shows from around the world will be streamed in the UK through Tiscali under a deal with on-demand broadcaster JumpTV. The partnership will see JumpTV install its video players on the Tiscali UK portal in the entertainment section.

UK users of Tiscali broadband will then be able to access TV from 70 countries. “At Tiscali, we understand how important video content is to our users, as the entertainment section is one of the most popular in our extensive portal,” said Alex Hole, head of online at Tiscali UK.

Canada's JumpTV said it aimed to help ISPs cater for the UK’s growing immigrant population and, at the same time, expand its customer reach. Some of the 300 international TV channels available for subscription through the partnership include Qatar-based news channel Al Jazeera, Jamaica’s CVM, Turkey-based Euro D, Bangladesh’s NTV and Uganda’s WBS.

“Satellite and traditional cable TV providers have proven for years that there is a strong appetite for international television in the UK, as the country is a hub for Asians, Middle Easterners, Africans and continental Europeans,” said Isaza Tuzman, president of JumpTV.
