Irdeto announced at the 2012 Cable Show that GlobeCast has selected its Irdeto Broadband and Irdeto Customer Central solutions for its newest venture in North America, MyGlobeTV. Announced in April and scheduled for a July commercial launch, MyGlobeTV is an over-the-top (OTT) platform for broadcasters to offer international and genre-based content directly to subscribers.
North America is widely considered the most attractive market for OTT services in the world, with Parks Associates reporting that in 2011, 81% of North American pay TV subscribers would have access to TV Everywhere services. To support GlobeCast’s growth into the OTT environment, it needed flexible and scalable broadband and customer care and billing solutions to make MyGlobeTV a reality. After evaluating several solution providers, GlobeCast found that only Irdeto could truly offer the customised, end-to-end services it needed.

GlobeCast selected Irdeto Broadband to provide protection and ongoing monetisation of premium content on broadband-connected devices, relying on an intuitive interface to easily configure content-viewing rules and support its business model. The Irdeto Broadband solutions are applicable to virtually all business models, including subscription-based, pay-per-view, video on-demand (VOD), ad-supported and pay-to-own, which allows OTT content providers, such as GlobeCast, to experiment with different services and determine the best recipe for monetising their content across multiple distribution methods.
Using Irdeto Customer Central for both its MyGlobeTV and traditional DTH platform, WorldTV, GlobeCast will leverage a pre-built, easy-to-navigate web interface, comprehensive backend system to track inventory, account creation and termination tools, and a system that allows for flexible reporting.
