Magine Beta launches in Spain

July 5, 2013

Just 24 hours after announcing its $19 million investment deal, cloud-based TV service Magine has opened its full Beta service in Spain and invited Spanish viewers to sign up.

International media groups Chello Multicanal, Viacom Spain, Cosmopolitan and National Geographic Channel Spain are amongst the first to sign up for the Beta version of the Magine OTT service.

Magine is a subscription service that combines cloud-based live TV, catch-up, start-over and on-demand programming all in the same place and across all devices. It is not TV through a new device but a TV service that is cloud-based and DRM protected.

In Sweden, Magine hosts some of the world’s best known brands and channels such as Discovery, CNN International, BBC, Eurosport, National Geographic, Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network as well as home national broadcasters SVT and TV4.

The company is in advanced negotiations with a number of other major international media and entertainment groups and predicts that the platform will be available in at least four more European territories by the end of the year.
