November 4, 2013

A comScore report has found that 87.2 per cent of China’s 347 million Internet users are watching online video at home or work, with some 30.9 billion videos being watched a month.

The Chinese audience is the number two consumer of videos globally behind the US, where there are 61.7 billion video views a month, an average of 371 videos per user, as compared with 101 for China.

Youku is China’s dominant online video provider, with 280,975 unique visitors a month, ahead of TENCENT (265,797), Tudou (220,219), Sohu (200,744) and IQiYI (189,441).

China’s base of Internet users fare outpaces any other APAC market—India is in a distant second with 73.9 million people 15+ accessing the Internet from home or work.
