Eutelsat’s annual TV Awards, which took place in a star-studded Venice gala on November 15th, celebrated what CEO Michel de Rosen said were the ‘best of the best’ in terms of TV channels carried on the Eutelsat fleet. But the evening also showcased the latest Ultra-HD/4K TV, and where Eutelsat announced a joint venture with Italian public broadcaster RAI to shoot a documentary in Ultra-HD (see http://advanced-television.com/2013/11/15/rai-eutelsat-to-shoot-documentary-in-ultra-hd/)

Also present was Eutelsat’s former CEO Giuliano Berretta, now president of Rome-based aerial production and facilities house DBW Communications and who were showcasing its stunning ‘Moviedrone’ project which is a patent-pending unmanned remotely-controlled drone, and capable of carrying a fully-automated Sony 4K F55 camera rig. The camera-rig can fly for more than 15 minutes at a time and transmitting via a ground-based uplink can beam directly into satellite.

The Awards evening also celebrated 10 years of Sky Italia with special recognition of the pay-TV broadcaster’s commitment to innovation, not least its HD and 3D coverage, special dedicated movie channels, and multi-feed camera positions at football and Formula 1 coverage.

Michel de Rosen told attendees that the Awards “highlights more than ever the vitality and boundless creativity of the television business as well as its commitment to deliver an exceptional viewing experience.”
