January 16, 2014

ALi Corporation, a Set-Top Box solution provider, has announced that ALi’s STB chipsets have incorporated middleware solutions from ACCESS STB Labs, a media and entertainment software development company based in Bangalore, India, offering end-to-end innovative and cost-effective solutions for Digital TV market.

Every market is looking to optimize ARPU(average revenue per user) from subscribers, and India with its fast-paced digital migration is not an exception to this. Seeing this need, ALi, already known for the ability to provide highly integrated STB chipsets, further joins forces with ACCESS STB Labs to equip operators with the capability to offer value-added services through fast time-to-market, operator-ready solutions.

The first partnership project includes ALi’s SD solution, M3281, and integration of iMediaConnect, an interactive middleware solution from ACCESS STB Labs, which will allow MSOs to deliver good looking EPG, value-added services, and advertisements in a most cost effective way. In addition, ALi’s hybrid HD solution, M3715, is also to incorporate STB Labs’ technology to enrich set-top-box features, enabling operators to offer even more value-added services such as broadband and broadcast, browsers, 2-way interactive applications, advertisements, and games. The solution is available with implementation from most leading CAS and from major ODM providers.

Ashok Patil, VP & Director of Sales and Marketing at ACCESS STB Labs, states, “STB Labs has great understanding of market requirements for growing digital TV and specializes in software development to suit these market needs. ACCESS STB Labs and ALi have partnered in a long-term relation to develop middleware solutions for major ALi SoC families that help to cater to individual demands from operators. We are confident that ALi’s proven integrated STB SoC and STB Labs’ middleware solutions will create tailored solutions for operators that enable them to generate more ARPU.”

Tony Chang, General Manager of ALi’s International Business Unit, comments, “ALi leverages ACCESS STB Labs’ proven middleware solutions, readiness to provide local technical support, and established relationship with operators. By conjoining efforts with ACCESS STB Labs, we hope to create additional values for the Indian market, including increased revenue for operator customers and enhanced experience for end users.”

Live demonstration of ALi’s platforms integrated with ACCESS STB Labs’ solutions will be available at ALi’s booth C12, Hall 18 at Convergence India 2014, taking place on January 21-23, 2014 in New Delhi.
