football-RonaldoSpain’s top football league La Liga and Mediapro, owner of the football TV rights, and Twitter have signed a deal to bring Spanish football to a world audience.

Video clips from La Liga will be made available via Twitter using Twitter’s Amplify tool that enables users to attach videos to tweets in real time with La Liga making highlights of every game for users around the world as they occur.

Through @LaLiga, La Liga will broadcast audio and video content, including goals, player interviews and players comments before, during and after each game. With the deal, La Liga becomes the first European league to be available both in video and audio on Twitter, along with the NBA, NFL and MLB.

La Liga has been ranked as the European national competition with highest number of international followers. For Javier Tebas, president of LFP, the deal with Twitter “will allow us to extend its reach globally. The globalisation of the Liga BBVA, the best league in the world, now is the best in the social network world.”
