June 23, 2016

Japan’s major service provider, KDDI, has selected Rovi’s G-Guide HTML to enable entertainment discovery on the new Android TV based IPTV STB. Available this month to KDDI’s IPTV subscribers, the new STB delivers advanced discovery experiences to users. This is the first product to adopt Rovi G-Guide HTML for IPTV.

Rovi’s G-Guide HTML is an HTML5-based interactive programme guide to help viewers easily find and record TV programmes. It features a picture-in-picture TV guide listing grid designed to showcase rich images, including programme and cast photos. G-Guide HTML helps viewers to easily switch from one programme to another, while highlighting connections and interrelated associations between actors and programmes using Rovi’s robust six-degree discovery capability.

“Our continued collaboration with KDDI further solidifies Rovi’s leadership position in delivering cutting-edge entertainment discovery solutions that further differentiate our customers’ services,” said Michael Hawkey, senior vice president and general manager, discovery, Rovi. “With so many content options available to consumers today, solutions like Rovi’s G-Guide HTML, significantly enrich the user’s discovery experience, resulting in increased consumption.”
