France Télévisions postpones SVoD platform

The launch of France Télévisions’s SVoD platform, previously announced for March 2017, has been postponed to autumn 2017, CEO Dephine Ernotte-Cunci has confirmed.

The PSB group is “not far” from concluding concrete partnerships she added, though calls to potential European broadcast partners have not been favourably received. The solution will come directly from the content rights owners and European producers Delphine Ernote-Cunci explained, as she targets non-exclusive rights. The service has no mandate to be financed by the TV licence but is seen as an extension to the decreasing DVD activity handled by commercial arm France Télévisions Distribution.

“If, in front of Netflix and Amazon, there is no platform to line-up French and European contents, well, in the new world, we won’t exist anymore,” Ernotte-Cunci commented.

In parallel to the future SVoD service, France Télévisions is working on a renewal of replay and VoD service Pluzz, with the idea to show all the content the PSB group runs on TV. The new Pluzz will thus gather both the replay service and the pay VoD offer PluzzVàd.
