Welwyn Garden City goes gigabit

January 30, 2017

Bellway at QEII, a development of new homes in Welwyn Garden City, will be the first garden city housing development in the UK to offer its residents symmetrical gigabit speeds – 1,000Mbps – over 128 times faster than traditional ADSL services.

Homes are already available for sale in the development, which compromises 163 properties including houses and apartments. Each home is being connected with full fibre broadband from Hyperoptic, a FTTP broadband provider, which will enable residents to download HD movies in less than one minute and 4K content can be downloaded in minutes, rather than the hours it would take with a standard broadband connection.

All future residents of Bellway at QEII will receive an initial free, three-month trial of Hyperoptic’s 1Gb (gigabit) broadband.

Steve Holford, Chief Customer Officer, at Hyperoptic comments: “For today’s modern family, having a reliable fast broadband connection is an essential utility that is prioritised in the same league as good schools, a safe neighbourhood and strong transport links. Having a full fibre connection makes a home more attractive for prospective family buyers.  The difference between an ADSL connection and our full fibre service is like night and day – we have had phenomenal feedback from customers as we have extended our footprint across the length and breadth of the UK.”
