Imagen, the Software-as-a-Service video management company, has appointed Charlie Horrell as its new CEO, a move that strengthens its senior management team and highlights the ongoing ambition for growth in new markets.
Current CEO Tom Blake hands over the position after six years in charge, deciding to take a more ‘hands on’ role after successfully transforming a small Cambridge based software business into leading video management company Imagen. As Commercial Director, Blake will continue to provide strategic guidance for the company and work closely with key customers.
With a career that has focused on driving businesses within the digital, technology and media space, Horrell brings with him exceptional leadership and commercial experience, most recently as managing director of Diligent. The company achieved significant growth under his five-year direction and was acquired for $625 million.
After a successful track record at a range of blue chip businesses in the UK, Europe and Asia, the appointment of Horrell aligns with Imagen’s ambition to be the leading video management solution for media companies as well as to introduce its services to the enterprise market.
Charlie Horrell said, “The company is in great shape and enjoys a high reputation across sports and media businesses. I’m joining at a very exciting point in the company’s evolution – I’m looking forward to taking this great solution to a wider market. So many companies are struggling to streamline their video management operations and make more of their assets – Imagen is the must-have service to help them enhance their business communications.”Tom Blake, Commercial Director, Imagen, said, “After six highly-enjoyable years in charge I’m delighted to hand over the reins to Charlie. His track record of driving businesses forward speaks for itself – his extensive commercial experience will help us gain ground in new markets and refine our operations. We are confident that Charlie will make a major contribution as we continue on our growth path.”
The appointment follows a successful year which has established Imagen as the leading video management solution used by sports and media companies including the English Premier League, ATP Media, Endemol, BP, the British Film Institute and IMG to monetise and distribute their content.
