Vodafone rolls out Smart Replay in Portugal

Vodafone Portugal has rolled out Smart Replay, a new feature of its Vodafone TV service, that offers a new way to watch football on TV. This new feature is available free of charge to all triple-play subscribers.

With Replay, Vodafone customers can interact with the live coverage of matches in both SD and HD. Whenever Smart Replay is triggered, a timeline with the main occurrences of the game, such as goals, yellow/red cards, substitutions, relevant throws, missed goals, injuries, and more will appear at the bottom of the screen.

In addition, the new functionality provides relevant information about the teams and the game on a single screen – such as each team’s technical data, statistics and curiosities. Previously this information was only available in a multiscreen scenario.

Smart Replay has been made available, after successful testing, in time for the 2018 World Cup and the plan is to extend it to other events and content in the near future.

Meanwhile, at a press conference in Lisbon, the president of Vodafone Portugal, Mário Vaz, announced that it could launch 5G operations in 2020. The operator is working with Ericsson on implementing the technology.
