Lewis Capaldi VR set on Facebook, Oculus Venues

May 11, 2020

Singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi is teaming with Supersphere and Oculus Venues to invite fans into his home for an intimate set in VR on May 13th. The concert will also be simulcast on Lewis Capaldi’s Facebook page.

Fans will be able to put on their headsets and meet their friends and other fans at an immersive SocialVR venue as they experience an intimate, acoustic set from Capaldi.

Capaldi’s debut, Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent was the biggest album of 2019 in the UK, and his breakout single Someone You Loved was the biggest song of 2019, according the UK’s Official Charts. The track took Song of the Year honours at the 2020 BRIT Awards and Capaldi was named Best New Artist. In the US, he was nominated for a Grammy Award for Song of the Year and spent three weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Someone You Loved has now hit over one billion combined global streams on Spotify alone. It is certified Platinum or greater in a total of 18 countries.

Capaldi’s choice to stream an exclusive immersive broadcast on Oculus Venues follows similar decisions by Offset and Wiz Khalifa as artists now look for ways to continue to play shows and intimately connect with fans. With just an Oculus Quest or Oculus Go headset, fans can now transport themselves to concert venues, performances and now, Capaldi’s own home, while relaxing in the comfort of their own homes.
