Nintendo has announced that it will soon release an OLED model of its popular Switch portable gaming system.
The new model has a similar overall size to the current Nintendo Switch console, but with a larger, 7-inch OLED screen (up form 6.2-inches) which offers deeper blacks and more vivid contrast. It also features a wide adjustable stand for tabletop mode, a new dock with a wired LAN port for stable online play, 64GB of internal storage, and onboard speakers with enhanced audio for handheld and tabletop play.
Nintendo has also touted “enhanced audio” from the console’s own speakers, though it is currently unclear whether the speakers have been upgraded at a hardware level or if software tuning is being deployed.
The OLED model will be available from October 9th priced at £309.99 in the UK – an increase of £50 on the current model.
