Russia’s Roscosmos says that the next launch of OneWeb satellites, initially set for August 5th, will now take place on August 20th or 21st.

A Soyuz 2.1b rocket, managed by Arianespace, will carry 36 OneWeb broadband satellites into orbit. The launch will happen from Baikonur, in Kazakhstan.

Russia has launch contracts in place with OneWeb to ferry 19 batches of satellites into orbit.

Reportedly OneWeb is well on track to complete its fleet of 648 satellites (plus spares) by mid-2022. A total of 254 craft are already in place and this next batch and by the end of August the fleet in orbit will be 290 craft.

Importantly, from November, OneWeb plans to start offering services in the northern latitudes covering the UK, Canada and Scandinavia.
