The Warner Bros Pictures global blockbuster, from writer/director Matt Reeves, The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson in the dual role of Gotham City’s vigilante detective and his alter ego, reclusive billionaire Bruce Wayne, will be available to stream on HBO Max on April 18th. The Batman will also air on HBO in the US April 23rd.

The movie opened to strong critic reviews when it hit cinemas on March 4th, and has taken nearly $750 million at the box office at time of writing.

Warner Bros announced plans last year to keep films in cinemas for 45 days before putting new titles on HBO Max. However, The Batman is seemingly getting special treatment by being released on the streaming platform a day early.

The movie tells the story of a killer who targets Gotham City’s elite with a series of sadistic machinations; a trail of cryptic clues sends Batman on an investigation into the underworld, where he encounters such characters as Selina Kyle, The Penguin, Carmine Falcone and The Riddler.

As well as Pattinson, the cast also includes Paul Dano, Zoë Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Andy Serkis and Colin Farrell.
