Pangaea’s inaugural production launches on Netflix

Pangaea, a production company founded by Luke Hyams and Sunita Mirchandani Hyams, has announced its inaugural production, The Sidemen Story, which is now available exclusively on Netflix UK.
Hyams, former Head of Originals EMEA at YouTube and Director of Global Content for The Walt Disney Company, brings a wealth of experience to Pangaea. With a career spanning various prestigious roles and notable projects, including interactive drama Dubplate Drama and BAFTA-nominated series, Kate Modern, he is known for pushing creative boundaries and shaping the future of storytelling.
Hyams said of the launch “At Pangaea, we’re redefining storytelling, The Sidemen Story is a testament to our commitment to crafting experiences that transcend borders, pushing the boundaries of entertainment and fostering a global community through shared narratives.”
Mirchandani Hyams, an industry veteran with over 17 years of experience, joined forces with Luke in 2022 to establish Pangaea. Her career includes work on diverse productions, from big-budget studio formats to independent features. Sunita, selected for the prestigious BAFTA Elevate producers programme in 2022, co-produced the critically acclaimed Big Boys Don’t Cry in 2020.
Sunita added: “Pangaea is more than a company; it’s a passion project that unites cultures through compelling stories. Our mission is to create purposeful entertainment that resonates worldwide, starting with The Sidemen Story.
The Sidemen Story is a docufilm that chronicles the incredible ten-year rise of Europe’s most popular YouTube group. The film blends intimate cinéma vérité, archival footage, and on-camera interviews to offer a compelling narrative of the group’s journey from bedroom gamers to global internet sensations.
Pangaea aspires to producing premium programming that transcends geographical borders. The company is currently in development on several new scripted and unscripted projects, showcasing its dedication to engaging a global audience of young people defined by allyship and a love for purposeful entertainment. The company is collaborating with emerging and established talent, including a talk show format entitled Work in Progress with broadcaster Julie Adenuga. Additionally, Pangaea is completing post-production on a new feature-length music documentary, soon to be announced.
