One Day at Netflix #1

Valentine’s Day seemingly inspired Netflix viewers towards romantic content in the week commencing February 12th. On Netflix’s English TV List. One Day, the limited series starring Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall and adapted from David Nicholls’ celebrated romance novel, rose to #1 with 9.9 million views, whilst Season 6 of Love is Blind debuted at #2 with 6.3 million views. Several returning series showed their staying power during the week, including Griselda, the limited series starring and executive produced by Sofía Vergara, at #3 (5.8 million views); Harlan Coben’s crime thriller Fool Me Once at #5 (2.3 million views); and the docuseries American Nightmare at #7 (2.2 million views). Taylor Tomlinson’s new stand-up special Have it All entered the list at #6 with 2.3 million views. 

Elsewhere, Sam Esmail’s Leave the World Behind climbed to the fifth spot on the Most Popular Films List, clocking 140 million views in its first 73 days on Netflix.

Love was also in the air over on the English Films List, with Players, the new romantic comedy starring Gina Rodriguez and Damon Wayans Jr, claiming the top spot with 16.3 million views. Documentaries had another strong showing on the list. True crime documentary Lover, Stalker, Killer, claimed second place with 14.4 million views, and the docu-drama Einstein and the Bomb, which uses Einstein’s words only, fusing dramatic sequences with archive footage of his life, debuted in fourth place with 8.5 million views. DreamWorks Animation’s Orion and the Dark, the animated family film directed by Sean Charmatz and written by Charlie Kaufman, took sixth place in its third week on the list with 7 million views.

Natural disaster thriller The Abyss (Sweden) debuted atop the Non-English Films List with 6.9 million views. Romantic thriller Ashes (Turkey) came in second place (6.4M views) ahead of new comedy Kill Me If You Dare (Poland) in third (5.8 million views) and gritty thriller Bhakshak (India) in fourth (5.1 million views). Two-time Oscar nominee and 12-time Goya Award winner Society of the Snow (Spain), from director J.A. Bayona, spent its seventh week on the list, claiming sixth place with 3.1 million views.

The crime thriller A Killer Paradox (Korea) rose to the top spot on the Non-English TV List with 5.5 million views. New entrants included the thriller The House of Ninjas (Japan) at #2 (4.2M views), Season 3 of suspenseful thriller Good Morning, Veronica (Brazil) at #3 (3.5 million views), Season 2 of teen drama AlRawabi School for Girls (Jordan) at #5 (1.9 million views) and the adventure Luz: The Light of the Heart (Portugal) at #8 (1.4 million views).
