April 25, 2024

Education charity, Into Film, has announced that the 2024 Into Film Awards will take place in the afternoon of June 25th at Odeon Luxe, Leicester Square in London, and will be hosted by Actor, Writer and Director, Susan Wokoma.

“I am excited and honoured to be this year’s Into Film Awards host. I presented an Into Film Award a few years ago and can honestly say it was a truly inspirational experience witnessing the creativity and brilliance of all the young people involved,” Wokoma commented.

Wokoma is a British actress, writer and director. After graduating from RADA, Susan has gone on to appear in films such as Enola Homes, The Beautiful Game and The Inbetweeners Movie 2. Her television credits include Cheaters, Turth Seekers, Toast of Tinseltown, Year of the Rabbit and many more. She has performed in many renowned theatres, most recently Teenage Dick at the Donmar Warehouse. Wokoma wrote, starred in and produced an award winning short film called Love The Sinner (Sky/Roughcut). She has written on shows such as The Reluctant Landlord (Sky) and will make her directorial debut with the feature film Three Weeks which she also wrote and will star in.

The Awards, sponsored by the UK film industry and supported by the BFI awarding National Lottery Good Cause funding, celebrate young people’s creativity in film, showcasing and highlighting the wealth of tomorrow’s creative talent.  Young people from across the UK whose short films have been nominated will be recognised at a star-studded ceremony, which has previously been attended by some of the biggest stars in the industry including Daniel Craig, Lashana Lynch, Eddie Redmayne, Lily James, Luke Evans, Gemma Arterton, Charles Dance, Ruth Wilson, Bill Nighy, Simon Pegg, Martin Freeman and Naomie Harris.

The nominees will be announced on May 7th and are recognised across 10 categories in different age groups, including Best Film, Documentary, Animated Film, Filmmaking Champion, Audience Choice Award and Ones To Watch. The winners will be presented with their awards by stars of the film and entertainment industry at the aforementioned ceremony on June 25th.

Celebrating the education charity’s 10th year, Into Film anticipates this year’s Into Film Awards will be bigger and glitzier than ever and has received an unprecedented number of film entries from children and young people across the UK.  Into Film believes that every child should be given the chance to learn hands-on filmmaking skills and be able to tell their own stories in film, which is the central aim of its Young Creatives programme, supported by the BFI awarding National Lottery Good Cause funding.
