Bandicoot appoints Head of Digital

June 5, 2024

Scottish indie Bandicoot Scotland, a joint venture with global production group Argonon, has announced the appointment of Nick Johns as Head of Digital in a newly created role to capitalise on a growing range of digital and cross-platform opportunities.

The role will see Johns working on digital-first opportunities for the indie as well as overseeing all the digital output for existing Bandicoot brands including the BAFTA, RTS and International Emmy award-winning show The Masked Singer. Working closely with Kate Stannard, Bandicoot’s Head of Development, Johns will also create new TV projects that have a digital dimension as well as new digital ideas with potential to translate to the linear space.

Johns first collaborated with Bandicoot at the start of the year when he executive produced and hosted Maskcast, the first official The Masked Singer podcast and vodcast. Previously, Johns spent four years as Creative Director of Development at Lime Pictures where his development credits included Drama Queens (ITVBe), Dance Monsters (Netflix) and Stand Up and Deliver (Channel 4). Other roles included Head of Entertainment Development for STV where his credits include Babushka (ITV), And They’re Off for Sport Relief (BBC) and Sex Tape (Channel 4). Prior to STV, Nick worked in-house at the BBC, working on quiz and gameshow development including Beat the Pack (for BBC One) and ITV where he developed shows including Dancing on Ice.

Johns said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining Bandicoot to develop projects in a fast-evolving digital landscape and across new platforms. I love that the team at Bandicoot are so tuned in to the opportunities in the global digital space and I can’t wait to apply my development skills to an expanding new market.”

Bandicoot co-founders, Derek McLean and Daniel Nettleton, added: “Nick has already made an impact with the Masked Singer vodcast. His infectious enthusiasm for entertainment on every platform chimes with our unique culture and enhances our creative armoury. We can’t wait to see what he does with this role.”
