Russia: Yandex renews NHL rights

January 26, 2022

Yandex has entered into a multiyear renewal agreement with the National Hockey League (NHL) to continue to broadcast all regular season and Stanley Cup Playoffs games in Russia through the 2023-24 season.

As part of the deal, Yandex will deliver NHL games live and on-demand as part of its Yandex Plus subscription via the Kinopoisk apps for Smart TV and Android TV. Additionally, fans will have access to game broadcasts, interviews, studio shows and other original content via Yandex’s newly-launched, 24/7 NHL Channel.

“There are many sports fans among the subscribers of Plus, and hockey is no exception. Over the several years of our partnership with the NHL, we have noticed an increase in interest in this championship in Russia. We are glad that fans can watch the next seasons of the league where they are already used to,” said Yulia Mishkuts, head of the special projects group at Yandex Media Services.

“We are excited to continue our relationship with Yandex and expand the showcase of our great game in Russia with the ‘NHL Channel,’” added Jaka Lednik, NHL Senior Vice President of International.
