UKTV Play on NOW TV and Roku

February 22, 2018

Free TV on demand service UKTV Play is now available on NOW TV devices and Roku streaming players.

The UKTV Play app hosts shows from multichannel broadcaster UKTV’s channels Dave, Yesterday, Really and Drama, including exclusive UKTV Originals and thousands of hours from the network’s extensive archive.

NOW TV and Roku users will now have easy access to UKTV’s top boxsets, from Taskmaster, to Yianni: Supercar Customiser with YouTube sensation Yianni Charalambous, and Most Haunted for all the paranormal fans out there.

They can watch exclusive preview episodes from the new series of Dara O Briain’s Go 8 Bit and Cop Car Workshop, a brand new UKTV Original documentary series featuring behind-the-scenes access to one of Britain’s leading police car workshops. Preview episodes from both shows will be available on UKTV play a week ahead of transmission on TV, on Dave.

The UKTV Play app will be automatically downloaded on NOW TV Boxes and NOW TV Smart Sticks purchased from February 23rd and it can be downloaded from the App Store for viewers who already own a NOW TV streaming device. Roku users can add UKTV Play from the Film & TV category in the Roku Channel Store.

“We’re always striving to give viewers easy access to the shows they love and want, on as many platforms as possible,” commented Richard Williams, General Manager, UKTV Play. “UKTV Play offers instant access to so many brilliant programmes and with four brand-new UKTV Original shows recently announced – Judge Romesh, Jon Richardson: Ultimate Worrier, Inside The Vets and Cop Car Workshop – and even more in the pipeline, viewers will have plenty of new shows to watch on NOW TV and Roku in 2018 and beyond.

“Following a record-breaking year in 2017 when we had 100 million views for the first time ever, this is another step forward for UKTV Play and we hope viewers enjoy having new access to UKTV shows on-demand, on the NOW TV and Roku platforms.”

“When it comes to great TV, we know choice and flexibility matters, so we’re really excited to be welcoming the free UKTV Play app onto our family of streaming devices,” declared Gidon Katz, Managing Director, NOW TV. “Let the binging on Taskmaster and Most Haunted commence!”

“Our aim is to provide our users with the best possible content line-up and easy access to the shows they love,” added Ingo Reese, Director Content Distribution at Roku. “With UKTV Play launching on Roku streaming players, we add another great option to our free-to-watch offering with top-notch content.”

UKTV Play has grown consistently year-on-year since launching in 2014 and the service continues to prove popular. In 2017, it was the company’s fastest growing brand with direct-to-consumer views up 75 per cent compared with 2016.
