May 21, 2018
London-based video technology specialist Grabyo has agreed a new deal with Singapore’s Mediacorp to power the media company’s live and near-live social video content. Grabyo’s cloud-based video-editing and live production platform will enable Mediacorp to connect millions of fans with its broadcast-quality content across web and mobile devices, dramatically increasing social views and engagement.
At a time when social networks are the go-to medium for breaking news and entertainment, Mediacorp will utilise the Grabyo platform to deliver video content, news and highlights to audiences across Singapore quickly, efficiently and in high fidelity. Grabyo’s Studio and Producer products will be used in Mediacorp’s newly created social hub to deliver content from its linear channels and its market leading OTT service Toggle.
Grabyo will be used by Mediacorp’s digital teams for news, sports and entertainment, enabling fast, efficient content production for a digital audience without having to engage the broadcast studio teams and equipment. This speed to market and focus on social channels will lead to a broader set of engaged viewers on mobile devices for Mediacorp’s live TV coverage & highlights from sports and news. Grabyo sees a maturing social video market in Asia, already the highest growth region for mobile worldwide.
“Mediacorp has engaged Grabyo to help us expand our social and digital video content offering,” Guillaume Sachet, Head of Social, Mediacorp. “This is an important part of our strategy to bring real-time video highlights and live social streams to our audience, as well as creating new experiences for our consumers across digital.”
Mediacorp used Grabyo to create and share over 150 clips and live broadcasts to Facebook, Twitter and YouTube during the 2018 Star Awards.
“We’re excited to be working with Mediacorp to engage millions of viewers across Singapore,” said Gareth Capon, Grabyo CEO. “The changing needs of audiences means that content is consumed in the moment and we look forward to working with the Mediacorp team to enhance the social hub and publishing capabilities. Asia is an important market for Grabyo and we see great potential for growth in the region.”
