W4free, the ad-supported streaming service featuring quality TV series, documentaries, and movies, has completed feature film licensing deals with Kaleidoscope, Platform Entertainment, The Film Consortium and Icon Film Distribution, which between them add over 100 titles to the company’s new film offering. The films will be made available to W4Free registered users in the UK over the coming months. The announcement was made today by Chris Sharp, Chairman, W4free.
Among the titles added to the service are such critically acclaimed films as Henry V (1989) with Kenneth Branagh; La Vie En Rose (2007), a two time Oscar and four time BAFTA winner starring Marion Cotillard; Oscar Winner Once (2007); The Passion of the Christ (2004), directed by Mel Gibson; Whale Rider (2003) with Keisha Castle-Hughes; box office sensation Waking Ned (1998) and many more.
“Our goal for W4Free has been to establish the service as a leading provider of free entertainment in and out of the home. With that in mind, and with viewing hours continuing to build aggressively since our launch, these films help us meet some important goals,” said Mr. Sharp. “From family fare to horror to documentary to drama, these additional films include a mix of genres, ranging from well-known classics, award-winning films and some hidden gems. We hope our viewers will enjoy discovering them all.”
