Ginny & Georgia takes #1 with Netflix return

Season 2 of Ginny & Georgia debuted in the #1 spot on Netflix’s English TV List with 180.47 million hours viewed, making it the most viewed title in the week commencing January 2nd. Starring Brianne Howey and Antonia Gentry, the comedy-drama series appeared in the Top 10 in 84 countries. Viewers also revisited Season 1, which landed in the #5 spot with 44.37 million hours viewed.

Netflix subsribers also enjoyed the immersive viewing experience of Kaleidoscope. The suspenseful heist drama, where every episode is a puzzle piece, was #2 with 112.32 million hours viewed. Loosely inspired by real-life events, the series was in the Top 10 in 90 countries. Meanwhile, Addams Family spin-off series Wednesday –  which has been renewed for a second season – pulled in an additional 81.34 million hours viewed. Emily in Paris was in the #4 spot with 47.78 million hours viewed.

On the Non-English TV List, viewers returned to Korean favourites, including revenge drama The Glory, which took the #1 spot with 82.48 million hours viewed, Alchemy of Souls (Part 2) with 20.51 million hours viewed, and dating competition series Singles Inferno (18.34 million hours viewed). Also returning to the list is Japanese drama Alice In Borderland Season 1 (19.13 million hours viewed) and Season 2 (41.84 million hours viewed) and Season 3 of Mexican drama La Reina del Sur (79.25 million hours viewed). New titles on the list were Australian thriller Woman of the Dead, Brazilian drama Lady Voyeur and Spanish comedy Alpha Males.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery stayed atop the English Films List with 44.32 million hours viewed. The Rian Johnson-directed film rose to the #5 spot on the Netflix Most Popular List with a total of 253.72 million hours viewed, which equates to over 109 million households having seen the film (253.72 hours viewed divided by 2.3 hours). The Pale Blue Eye with Christian Bale as Augustus Landor entered the list in the #2 spot with 42.96 million hours viewed. Based on the book by Louis Bayard, the film appeared in the Top 10 in 88 countries. Fans also continued to singalong to Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical, which was #4 on the list. Starring Adam Driver and Greta Gerwig, new offbeat comedy White Noise was in the #5 spot.

On the Non-English Films List, Polish drama How I Became A Gangster debuted in the #1 spot with 10.53 million hours viewed, alongside new Colombian drama The Kings of the World with 3.95 million hours viewed. Norwegian action-adventure Troll, Spanish mystery God’s Crooked Lines, Italian mystery 7 Women and a Murder and German drama All Quiet on the Western Front – now with BAFTA and Golden Globe nominations – all returned to the list.
