StreamAMG powers Curling Canada streaming platform

January 26, 2023

StreamAMG has been chosen by the governing body of the world’s top curling nation, Canada, to supply the end-to-end technology behind their new domestic and international OTT video streaming service. From the start of 2023, Curling Canada will use StreamAMG’s suite of products to power Curling Canada +, a new service that offers live and on-demand content to supporters in Canada and around the world.

Curling Canada together with their member associations across the country control one of the largest pools of global broadcast competition rights of a national sport governing body anywhere in the world. Their partnership with StreamAMG now enables them to access to StreamAMG’s market-leading product suite, which includes:

  • MediaPlatform, StreamAMG’s core online video platform, providing world-class flexibility and scale, delivering hundreds of millions of hours of content across a wide range of devices every year.
  • CloudMatrix content distribution system which features meta data tagging and archival tools within a mobile-friendly interface.
  • The CloudPay platform allows rights-holders to control and manage their subscribers within a user-friendly ecosystem that also manages the payment processes.

For over 20 years, StreamAMG has been providing OTT solutions for sports properties with direct-to-consumer offerings, such as ATP Media’s Tennis TV, The FA’s FA Player, Premiership Rugby’s PRTV Live and over 50 top sports rights-holders globally.

“Having our streaming platform in place gives us new ways to present our sport and our athletes to fans around the world,” said Katherine Henderson, Chief Executive Officer of Curling Canada. “This is the first step in the process, and we hope to grow this product down the road and give our fans even more content.”

“There is incredibly high demand for access to Canadian broadcasts of curling, not just in Canada but around the world,” said Mark Silver, General Manager of North America for StreamAMG. “It’s a privilege for StreamAMG to be supporting Curling Canada in the expansion of their broadcast strategy to domestic and international audiences.”

Fans will be able to stream available live matches and watch on-demand content from various tournaments from the men’s, women’s, and mixed circuits across Canada with additional international events. Selected archived content from previous events will also be available to subscribers from the launch of the service. The platform will launch with the 2023 Canadian under-18 boys’ and girls’ championships.

Fans can subscribe to the service for $9.99 per event package.
