Ahead of a full presentation on December 20th, TF1 Pub, French commercial broadcaster TF1’s advertising unit, has revealed further details about its TF1+ free streaming platform.

Set to launch on January 8th 2024, the new service, which will be coupled with a pay service called TF1+ Premium, will get a Hisense button in March 2024, according to TF1 executive Claire Basini.

From the outset, TF1+ will appear on the homepage of the three main French telcos – Orange, Free and Bouygues Telecom – and be available on 100 per cent of the digital environment and 95 per cent of smart TVs. Its app will be preinstalled on connected TVs sold from January 2024 by Google TV, Sony, TCL and Xiaomi.

To share the added value with the operators, TF1 will sell digital ads three times more expensive than traditional TV spots.

Conceived as service dedicated to news, family and entertainment content and as a competitor to YouTube, TF1+ will launch with a total offering of 15,000 hours, “as much as what is proposed on Paramount+ and Disney+,” according to TF1.

Some 20 per cent will be brands not featured on the linear feed and 80 per cent will get long-term rights, including TV series and feature films, with 200 available at the start.

Major sport events will also benefit from the Top Chrono functionality, launched as a beta demo on replay service MyTF1 for the Rugby World Cup. It enables viewing of match summaries and already counts more than 2.5 million views.

The audience will be navigates through the content by a search engine called Synchro, based on profiles determined by viewers.
