Warner TV channel launching in Czech Republic

January 18, 2024

Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) is expanding its linear portfolio in the Czech Republic with Warner TV. The channel is the first free-to-air TV channel that the company launches in the country, and it will be available for viewers in 2024.

In the Czech Republic, WBD already operates 18 pay-TV linear channels (Discovery, Eurosport 1, Eurosport 2, Eurosport 4K, HGTV, TLC, Travel Channel, Investigation Discovery, Cartoon Network, Cartoonito, CNN, Food Network, Animal Planet, HBO & HBO 2 & HBO 3, Cinemax & Cinemax 2) and the HBO Max streaming platform.

Starting in 2024, Warner TV will be added to the local Czech linear portfolio. The country will become the second market after Italy where Warner TV is available free to air and the eleventh market in EMEA where Warner TV is available via its linear network portfolio.

Jamie Cooke, General Manager CEE, Baltics, Middle East, Mediterranean and Turkey at WBD commented: “We are very happy to bring our first free to air channel in the Czech Republic. With the launch of Warner TV, we will be completing our already extensive local linear offer, and we will bring to all viewers great movies and productions from our Warner Bros Discovery library. The Czech Republic is one of our most important countries in the region and Warner TV represents a natural step, as all TV, movies and series enthusiasts in the market will be able to watch great content on our new free to air channel”.

Vaclav Palecek, Distribution and Business Development at Warner Bros. Discovery in the Czech Republic & Slovakia, adds:

The launch of Warner TV in the Czech Republic represents a great milestone for us and our local distribution market. Besides our pay TV channels, which bring live sports, reality, lifestyle, kids’ content, original productions, movies and series, the addition of Warner TV as a linear free to air channel will complete our portfolio and bring our content to a new audience.
