Lift is Netflix’s most viewed title of the week

For the second week in a row, F. Gary Gray’s action heist thriller Lift was the most watched Netflix title of the week, staying on top of the English Films List with 36.7 million views. The film, starring Kevin Hart, reached the Top 10 in 93 countries in the week commencing January 15th. New dystopian film The Kitchen, from Kibwe Tavares and Daniel Kaluuya in their directorial debut, opened at #3 (5.6 million views). Adam Sandler’s animated comedy Leo came in at #10 (3.3 million views) for its ninth week on the list.
Society of the Snow (Spain), J.A. Bayona’s epic survival story of the 1972 Andes plane crash, spent its third week at #1 on the Non-English Films List with 13.4 million views. The film, which has been nominated for Best International Film at the 96th Oscars, quickly rose to #4 on the Most Popular Non-English Films List and now has 64.4 million all-time views. Making their list debuts were action drama Sixty Minutes (Germany) at #2 (10.6 million views), thriller From the Ashes (Saudi Arabia) at #4 (1.5 million views) and anime maboroshi (Japan) at #5 (1.3 million views).
New docuseries American Nightmare, which investigates a case the press dubbed ‘the real-life Gone Girl,’ debuted at #1 on the English TV List with 21.4 million views. Harlan Coben’s latest crime thriller adaptation Fool Me Once continued to draw viewers at #2 (11.2 million views) and two more of Coben’s novels are now in the works at Netflix. Another book adaptation, family drama Boy Swallows Universe, climbed its way to #3 (4 million views).
Action drama The Brothers Sun continued to entertain subscribers at #5 (2.7 million view) and My Life with the Walter Boys spent its seventh week on the list at #6 (2.1 million views). Money Heist spin-off series BERLIN (Spain) took the top spot on the Non-English TV List for the fourth week in a row with 5 million views. Mystery thriller Detective Forst (Poland) held steady at #2 (4.7 million views), while romance drama My Demon (Korea) spent its ninth week on the list at #3 (2.6 million views). New limited mystery series The Bequeathed (Korea) debuted at #4 (2.5 million views).
