BBC revamps Red Button service

March 27, 2015

The BBC  is revamping its Red Button service for connected TVs. The broadcaster’s Connected Red Button platform will be rebranded as Red Button+ next month, and gain a range of additional features in the process.

The revamp will enable users to access BBC iPlayer via the red button on their remote control, and the amount of live-streamed content on offer from BBC Sport will be increased. Viewers can also browse news stories, video highlights and weather forecasts in a separate window without leaving the channel they are watching.

Red Button+ will be available on TVs from Samsung, Sony, LG, Panasonic, Sharp, Toshiba and more, as well as services from EE, YouView, and Tivo.
