Prime Video acquires Unraveling Athena tennis doc

Kaleidoscope Film Distribution has announced the sale of new tennis documentary Unraveling Athena to Amazon Prime Video in the UK, Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands.
Directed by Francis Amat, this in-depth feature that took four years to make, explores the lives and experiences of some of the world’s most extraordinary female athletes, featuring contributions from more than twenty number one ranked tennis players.
International superstars such as Billie Jean King, Martina Hingis, Tracy Austin, Evonne Goolagong, Kim Clijsters, Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova unite to share their experiences, painting an inspiring tale of perseverance, trials and tribulations and remarkable achievements, from being a small child with a dream and a racket, to becoming world number 1. Interweaving the lives of these champions, the film not only provides a unique insight into the mind of the professional athlete, but creates a single, unified narrative of modern day sporting heroics.
Prime Video will release Unraveling Athena in the UK, Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands on July 13th. North American distribution rights have also recently been secured, with LA-based Shout! Studios, the film production and distribution arm of Shout! Factory, planning a strategic launch of the movie across major American entertainment platforms later this year. All other rights remain.
The deal with Prime Video comes as Kaleidoscope prepares itself for the first ever Marché du Film Online, where the company are due to present a host of new documentary and feature titles.
