Recast appoints Cook as Commercial Director

April 7, 2021

Recast, a direct-to-customer video platform, has announced the appointment of James Cook as Commercial Director.

Cook will join Recast in mid-April from TGI Worldwide, a multiple-discipline sports infrastructure, technology and media rights business. Cook’s background working with world leading rights’ holders, brands and athletes means that he is ideally positioned to help drive Recast through a period of accelerated growth, ahead of the UK launch.

Cook joins some of the most highly regarded names in sport and technology which include Andy Meikle, Founder and CEO who previously founded Sportlobster and Executive Chairman Simon Clegg CBE, former Chief Executive of the British Olympic Association and Ipswich Town FC.

The leadership team also includes Chief Marketing Officer, JC Oliver, a former Global Head of Innovation at Microsoft & Global Chief Creative Officer at AOL and Chief Technology Officer, Chris Stafford, who co-founded FanDuel.

Meikle said: “Considering the high level of inbound interest we are receiving from rights holders we are delighted to welcome James on board. Recast is on target for exponential growth and we know that he will not only be able to leverage his existing relationships across the industry but also be a key driving force behind our commercial strategy. James is a welcome addition to our rapidly growing team.”

Cook added: “From all the discussions I’m having across the industry of sport, it’s clear that almost everyone is looking for an alternative way to monetise their digital content. Recast’s model and platform is revolutionary so I’m delighted to join the team. The traction Recast has gained over the last couple months is understandable and I’m excited about what I can bring to the business.”

As a result of increased interest from rights holders, Cook’s appointment will support the commercial arm of the business to identify new commercial opportunities and ensure market fit for Recast’s product and service.

Recast is already working with several high-profile rights holders and bodies using its ground-breaking technology to help maximise their earning potential from highlights, in-play clips and live events ahead of its full UK launch this year.
