VeEX launches new FX120 analyzer

February 17, 2022

VeEX, a global player in innovative test and measurement solutions for next-generation networks, has announced the general availability of its handheld, field portable, FX120 XG(S)-PON analyzer. Leveraging technology and expertise inherited from its MTTplus-420 G-PON analyzer predecessor, this new innovative tester addresses the challenges service providers encounter installing, activating, and troubleshooting 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps hybrid access, full-fiber networks.

The new FX120 PON analyzer is equipped with a powerful and unique set of features designed to streamline FTTH/P deployment. A pass-through, filtered power meter supports accurate level measurements on up to five, in-service signals simultaneously. State-of-the-art, high-speed digital circuitry captures and decodes in-band protocol messages responsible for managing an ONT’s critical operating parameters. Internet speed testing validates promised bandwidth, assuring the customer’s quality of experience (QoE). This range of test capabilities enables simple, error-free customer turn-up which is necessary to minimize truck rolls in what has become a super-competitive and fast-paced landscape.

Other key features include:

  • PON service activation – verify downstream/upstream signal levels are acceptable with LOS, Frame, Sync and ONT status indicators per ITU-T G.984 and G.9807.1 standards
  • PON-ID (OLT-ID, Class and TOL) for G-PON and/or XG(S)-PON OLTs
  • 1G/2.5G/5G/10G Speedtest by Ookla

“FTTH/P technicians can no longer rely on legacy PON testers and traditional test methods when working with new co-existent G-PON, XG(S)-PON, and/or RF video networks,” said Monica Hua, Product Manager at VeEX. “Multiple wavelengths add complexity to optical level measurements, while discrete bandwidth services and applications impact ONT provisioning. The ability to measure each optical signal wavelength, capture relevant PON-ID, ONU ID, serial number and status, eliminating cross connect errors, plus performing an Internet speed test all in a single, intuitive tester is a game-changer.”
