Germany: FIA WEC on Sport1

February 27, 2024

Sport1, Germany’s multi-channel sports platform, will cover the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) extensively on free-TV in the 2024 and 2025 seasons – this year in cooperation with Porsche. The races will be shown live or in highlights.

The WEC aims to thrill fans with action-packed racing and a prominent driver line-up, including Mick Schumacher, son of Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher. The Qatar Airways Qatar 1812km will start on March 2nd, which Sport1 will broadcast live. The final race phase will also be broadcast live . Presenter Anna Dollak will be reporting from the race, commentators will be Christian Glueck and Constantin Eckner.

Except for the race in Le Mans, Sport1 will be present live at all stations – mostly via live entry. The most important scenes from the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans can be seen on Sport1 in a detailed highlight format, and there will also be a highlights programme for each of the other seven races.

The WEC will then make its second stop of the new season on April 21st in Imola. The 6-hour race in northern Italy is one of the classics on the racing calendar.

Annika Rody, Director Media Rights at Sport1, commented: “Sport1 will continue to be the home of live sport and emotional sporting moments in 2024. With the FIA WEC, an attractive racing series with popular driver personalities such as Mick Schumacher will start on the Sport1 platforms. The broadcast also underlines our motorsport expertise.”
